Streams Overview

After an intense review and selection process, three streams were chosen for the initial phase of Atlantic salmon restoration – Cobourg Creek, Duffins Creek, and the Credit River. Barnumhouse Creek, which has been heavily stocked with Atlantic salmon during the previous research phase of restoration, will continue to be evaluated for adult returns and may be stocked again in the future to support that population.

Selection was based on physical stream characteristics, the existing fish community and fisheries objectives, and stakeholder support. In the near future, three additional streams will be chosen as streams to continue rehabilitation work on, with the goal of stocking Atlantic salmon in them in the next phase of the program.
